What is exactly talent and why some people exert certain abilities and skills in various fields more vividly then other people do and more in tune naturally with them, without applying too much effort ?

Most people personalize talent, assuming ownership of it and attributing it to a certain astrological alignment , fortune, genetics and gift from above as a reward for exceptionalism, while others absurdly convinced they lack talents or have such insignificant impact of it that it might even be worthy of much consideration and effort. An abstract idea that separates individuals and nations alike, putting them in competition mode over the degree of their achievements. We love to indulge in our talents making talent itself an object of worship and pride by not recognizing it for what it really is… a vital instrument assigned to each and every soul to fulfill the duty of life on man’s own level of development, the goal of which is to mutually contribute to our unfolding of inner master and true Self .

Assigned, in each life cycle these are essentially a set of natural skills that facilitate a persons gain in understanding of ultimate reality, bringing it back to uniting all of soul’s attributes and connecting it to the source of creation . Talent is a “heavy weight” or more of a “burden” we might say that laid upon shoulders to be used wisely and bring forth the fruit of its labor. It is given according to ones merits and missions one needs to fulfill in given life experience . If we are to understand the value of talent on a deeper level we ought to delve into metaphysical aspect of human endowment, taking into account experiences of a soul as every skill is gained over the span of a single or multiple life cycles. Ultimately, talent is a memory of prior endeavours that individual soul partook on physical plain in prior incarnations. It can be fully mastered in preceding experiences upon returning to current lifetime where those skills can once again spring forth in each persons life and  fully manifest in the most fruitful manner and under appropriate circumstances . The initial spark of endowment is rooted in spiritual world alone and only from that spark alone it can begin to develop and manifest by means of a pure desire .

The nature of desire is generally two-fold, to receive solely for your own self satisfaction and use or to acquire knowledge for the sake of others, making it a duty to be a channel of divine nature and information it contains  to contribute to others.  Every single soul possesses its unique set of skills or attributes that facilitate and contribute to the ultimate reality on corresponding levels, adding to and filling the gaps needed for unification of all souls . Whether it be minor or major depends on the circumstances in which those talents or better said “weights” and “measurements” of life can be better and more efficiently expressed and be of most value at a particular time and place or event so that it can make a major impact on lifes around it as well as own destiny. The universal source of talent is attainable by way of light and wisdom and is accessible to whoever wishes to access it .

There are many mentions of “talent(s)” in sacred scriptures of antiquity. Historical accounts of it particularly described in the bible. Its presented often in hidden parables and allegories describing soul’s undertakings. It also refers to more of a mundane use such as historical accounts and physical artefacts pertaining to measurement units which were utilized in different parts of the world . Of course, when we talk about ancient measurement units, be it astronomy , weights  lengths and degrees we might easily dismiss the accompanying context of numbers and its origins as all primeval numbers were derived from and based on spiritual sources and deep knowledge of the constitution of soul related with physical proportions as each number has its place in the divine and physical hierarchies and holds a metaphysical quality.

The talent was valued all across ancient world in prominent cultures like Greece, Rome, and the middle east. It was used to weigh precious metals like silver and gold, two of the main metallic ingredients that define both the composition of the physical body and soul in higher spiritual realms. It was the largest unit of weight described in the Bible. Talent is mentioned quite often in the bible, for reasons other than just preserving the records of monetary exchange and commerce.

The Parable of the Talents

The Parable of the Talents

14 “For it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants[a] and entrusted to them his property.

15 To one he gave five talents,[b] to another two, to another one, to each according to his ability. Then he went away.

16 He who had received the five talents went at once and traded with them, and he made five talents more.

17 So also he who had the two talents made two talents more.

18 But he who had received the one talent went and dug in the ground and hid his master’s money.

19 Now after a long time the master of those servants came andsettled accounts with them.

20 And he who had received the five talents came forward, bringing five talents more, saying, ‘Master, you delivered to me five talents; here, I have made five talents more.’

21 His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant.[c] You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’

22 And he also who had the two talents came forward, saying, ‘Master, you delivered to me two talents; here, I have made two talents more.’

23 His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’

24 He also who had received the one talent came forward, saying, ‘Master, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you scattered no seed,

25 so I was afraid, and I went and hid your talent in the ground. Here, you have what is yours.’

26 But his master answered him, ‘You wicked and slothful servant! You knew that I reap where I have not sown and gather where I scattered no seed?

27 Then you ought to have invested my money with the bankers, and at my coming I should have received what was my own with interest.

28 So take the talent from him and give it to him who has the ten talents.

29 For to everyone who has will more be given, and he will have an abundance. But from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.

30 And cast the worthless servant into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth

Its important to note the reason as to why all of the talents were returned  back to where they came from and not used by the servants on mundane things like their own personal needs which would allow them to simply give back the loan share they got from their “Master” . Instead they chose to give back all they received with the fruits of their labor.

Now, for a brief examination of the word ” Talent” which has interesting interrelations let’s resort to Kabbalah. We might just go ahead and simply try to swap the letters “T” and “L” of the word “Talent” . We will discover that it suddenly forms word “Latent” which has same number of letters as well as letters themselves. From the numerological point of view the value of both words would equal each other because it has same corresponding numerological values in whatever order. We will just have to swap letters “T” and “L”

Let’s now go and examine the simple definition of the word “Latent” which is :

  1. “lying dormant or hidden until circumstances are suitable for development or manifestation.”
  2. “existing but not yet developed or manifest; hidden; concealed.”

Finally, “talent” is something to be taken advantage of in order to self realize, gain knowledge , understanding and wisdom within ourselves to guide others and return with our multiplied wealth to the source of our wealth. Its mustn’t be wasted on earthly pursuits or “dug in the ground” for the things that are short lived and perishable
